What’s my Story? Digital stories about inclusion

This Disability Action Week CSIA launched a video series exploring inclusion for people with disabilities.

CSIA kicked off Disability Action Week with a cinematic launch on Monday to showcase five stories about inclusion of people with a disability.

What’s my Story? Digital stories about inclusion are five stories about people with a disability who share their experiences about inclusion in employment, education, sport, creative and community activities.  These stories form part of the Inclusion Ready project to raise awareness about inclusion and the Information, Linkages and Capacity Building (ILC) grant program.

Allycia’s story                          Bobby’s story

Gabe’s story                            Hervey Bay’s story

Kobie’s story                           Kobie’s behind the scenes vlog

Inclusion enables people with a disability to make positive social and economic contributions as community members, customers, leaders, teachers, students, employees, employers and entrepreneurs with benefits for the entire community. What you will see are people with disabilities and their communities breaking down any physical, attitudinal, policy and/or communication barriers to inclusion.

We hope that people watch these videos and it sparks ideas about how to build better inclusion in their communities and, in turn, they investigate Information, Linkages and Capacity Building (ILC) grants as a way to start these activities.  ILC is a critical enabling part of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) that encourages everyone to consider inclusion and how they can build it in their community.

It’s up to all of us to build awareness of inclusion as inclusion has benefits for ALL. The videos will be shared through the CSIA social media channels. Follow CSIA on Facebook and LinkedIn to share the videos with your network.

You can find out more information about inclusion, the videos and the ILC grants on the Inclusion Ready website.

To deliver this project, CSIA worked with six amazing people with disabilities and their family, friends and community to tell their stories. The talented team at The Storyboxes provided their creative input into the production. Behind the scenes we had an advisory group made up of representatives from key organisations as well as a group of people with disabilities who provided their reviews on the videos as they were developed. This project would not have been possible without funding from the Queensland Government and our project partners at National Disability Services (NDS).
