New Resources for Success in the NDIS

The new Boosting the Local Care Workforce (BLCW) website provides you with the tools and resources for success in the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).

CSIA is participating in the Boosting the Local Care Workforce (BLCW) alliance project with Ernst & Young and the First Peoples Disability Network.

This national project – with investment from Department of Social Services – addresses workforce planning and development issues in the disability and aged care sectors.

Resources on specific market issues to assist providers with enhancing their service delivery are being developed including the new BLCW website.

Workforce planning is the biggest issue facing the community services. Understanding and preparing for the future now will help you create a sustainable future for you and your organisation. If you’re a provider or you’re looking to transition to the NDIS market to grow your business, the website provides a suite of resources essential to success in the NDIS.

The NDIS Demand Map

The NDIS provides a $22 billion opportunity to support 460,000 people to achieve their goals. As a result, demand for workers in the disability services and aged care sectors is growing rapidly.

It is estimated that the disability sector workforce will need to grow by up to 90,000 full time equivalent workers in the next five years.

Knowing what to expect can help you focus your workforce planning. The NDIS Demand Map is a new data analytics tool that provides a forecast of participant, workforce and spend numbers in your local area.

Just by entering your postcode, you will discover how many NDIS participants are expected to live in your area, how much they will spend, the types of support they will need and how many workers you may need to support growth.

Readiness Assessment

The BLCW website provides the opportunity to self-assess your readiness to either become a NDIS registered provider or sustain or expand services as a current registered provider.

The Readiness Assessment provides a snapshot of your organisation’s current business model and overall readiness across five domains: financial sustainability; organisational strategy; governance; people and capability; and performance measurement.

The Readiness Plan you receive after completing the assessment highlights actions you can take to support your business or organisation to be ready for NDIS reform. This will support your workforce planning and creating a sustainable future for your organisation.
