Inclusion Ready Summit
An exciting full day event that delivers the latest research, ideas and opportunities for inclusion for people with disabilities
Inclusion is everybody’s business.
CSIA has announced an event that brings together a range of thought-leaders, experts and researchers, along with people with disabilities, to address social and economic inclusion.
The Inclusion Ready Summit will be held on Tuesday 18 June at Room ThreeSixty at the QUT Gardens Point Campus. It will be opened by Minister Coralee O’Rourke followed by a keynote session with Professor Bruce Bonyhady AM.
The Summit will explore how the community services industry, government, business and the wider community can and are working in partnership with people with disabilities to create inclusion.
CSIA CEO Belinda Drew said creating inclusion benefits everyone, it creates a strong economy and drives future growth as well as enabling people with disabilities to participate in the everyday.
“It’s as important as ever that we have this inclusion conversation, especially as we see the NDIS roll out with an inclusive growth framework.
“Throughout the day you will hear from a grant program that has created inclusive employment, the first inclusive Commonwealth Games, what it takes to be a leader and how business is moving towards inclusion.”
Speakers from across Australia will come together to talk about social and economic inclusion with people with disabilities at the centre of these conversations and presentations.
“Our group of Panel Chairs are people with disabilities who will run the sessions and provide reflections throughout the day.
“They are part of the planning for the sessions, participating in planning, providing input and direction for questions and the conversations. Following the event, the group will come together and develop an Inclusion Ready Paper to provide input into the Inclusion Mindset Agenda.”
The day will begin with a key note presentation from Professor Bruce Bonyhady AM, the Executive Chair and Director of the Melbourne Disability Institute at the University of Melbourne.
Prof Bonyhady is a disability reformer, economist, one of the key architects of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and was the inaugural Chair of the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) from 2013 to 2016.
