How’s your business maturity as the COVID-19 situation evolves?
One way that you can support and measure your growth is through benchmarking – using the same scoring system over time to track changes in response to the environment.
One way that you can support and measure your growth is through benchmarking – using the same scoring system over time to track changes in response to the environment.
The Business Maturity Scorecard was developed by Industry, for Industry, so it offers a unique opportunity to benchmark against an Industry standard.
CSIA CEO Belinda Drew said the Community Services Industry COVID-19 response and recovery was advancing the way we do business.
“As community services organisations are adapting to meet needs through the evolving COVID-19, keeping track of progress across the eight business domains supports strategy planning into the future.
“In just 20 minutes you will have a downloadable report you can use for reporting to your board, strategy planning with your executive, producing your annual plan and leading discussions with managers.”
Ms Drew said organisations can return and complete the scorecard again and again over time to track business maturity progress.
“You have a dashboard with all your reports and previous scores. You can return and check your progress through a consistent evaluation over time.”
Organisations across Australia were using this free online system to improve the way they do business.
Growing workforce at Lifeskills Plus
Lifeskills Plus have grown and changed significantly since first completing its first Business Maturity Scorecard.
CEO Owen Rogers originally completed the online tool as part of a grant application process. Now she uses it for setting KPIs and internal measurements.
“I used the report with senior management initially – it helped us to restructure for growth and change direction,” he said.
“It was significant as a tool to support our organisational direction and also use as a communication tool.
“We used the report for the Board, where I presented on it along with the one year and three-year strategic plan. I touched on everything in the report. It backed up our recommendations around financial investment in areas.”
The scorecard results have produced further positives outcomes for the organisation.
“Overall we used the tool for advancing and fixing things. The report gave us direction. It’s a good tool. It also confirms new gaps for us to focus our attention,” Mr Rogers said.
“Now I it to present on it monthly – to see KPIs, hurdles. It’s also a good funding source for information transfer.”
To other businesses that are yet to complete the Business Maturity Scorecard Owen highly recommends getting started now:
“It’s a good reflection of your business. Jump in and do it – it doesn’t take that long to complete.
“As a CEO or General Manager, you should be always looking at your business – this gives a good synopsis for your business. It works for me.”
The Business Maturity Scorecard is just one of the tools that CSIA has partnered with Industry to deliver. It’s another way we are advancing the Community Services Industry through doing business better.
