Forging Leadership Pathways through virtual mentoring opportunities CSIA has announced the Leadership Pathways Month of Mentoring for this November. Type Blogs Category Connecting & Working Together Date published October 12, 2020 This exciting online event brings together experienced board members as Mentors and aspiring leaders as Mentees, on a safe secure platform for one-to-one video mentoring sessions. Mentors are able to volunteer as much time as they have available over the month. Mentees can peruse profiles and register for mentoring sessions. To do this, CSIA has partnered with TEX – the Experience Exchange, a new and innovative online video-based marketplace that connects people to deliver this program. It’s safe, secure and easy to use! Yes, I want to register! CSIA CEO Belinda Drew said CSIA’s Leadership Pathway program empowers the next generation of leaders by creating opportunities, pathways and new connections. “What we have seen is a missing pathway between people who gain qualifications and joining a board. Here at CSIA we are delivering ways to forge this path,” she said. “The program’s first speed mentoring event during Women’s Week earlier in the year was a success. It also highlighted that there needed to be more opportunities to connect experienced board members with aspiring leaders. “Seeing the rapid digitisation during the evolving COVID-19 pandemic, we investigated how we could facilitate this important mentoring program in a virtual environment. Ms Drew said creating pathways that supports connections, learning and development supports more diverse boards across Industry. “Organisations draw on their board members range of experiences and knowledge to navigate the complex and unprecedented issues faced by our Industry,” she said. “That is why it’s so important that we focus on the development, recruitment and knowledge of our next generation of leaders.” Ms Drew said Mentors and Mentees could register on the platform, connect with the Leadership Pathways Program, and build their profiles. “To make this Month of Mentoring a success we are calling on a diverse range of experienced board members to volunteer as little as an hour of their time, and much more if they can, to mentoring the next generation. “As a Mentor you set your availability which could be on a weekday, weekend or any night on the site. The Mentees then register for your time and when it comes time, the site hosts the video call. “It’s easy, fun and importantly means you can do it a time that is convenient to you while you share insights, learnings, experience and knowledge.” The Leadership Pathways program Month of Mentoring is easy to join and the secure TEX Inc platform makes connecting simple: Head to tex.inc where you register and build your profile – don’t worry the platform is easy to use and follow, with prompts to help you! List all the skills you have as a board member that mentees will be interested in. Add in your availability and times across the month of November – it could be an hour a day, a week or over the month. Ms Drew said that it only took her half an hour to register and complete her profile, including her availability. “I look forward to sharing my experience and insights with Mentees on this new platform. With my busy diary, this makes it easier for me to give back and pave the way for the next generation.” Additional support with using the platform We have a couple of sessions open to support mentors.
