The team at CSIA wishes you a Merry Christmas, and a safe and happy New Year!
With the festive break almost upon us, we are taking the time to reflect on some highlights from the year, and what we have been doing!
CSIA has had a successful 2018, with a lot of growth as we delivered a range of projects, activities and more to support the long-term sustainability of the Community Services Industry.
Our governance has evolved with the growth of the organisation and complexity of the work we are doing.
At CSIA’s recent AGM we welcomed new board members
alongside continuing board members David Swain (Chairperson) and Leigh Tabrett.
We said farewell and a massive thank you to Heather Watson from the board, who brought her experience as a Chairperson and extensive legal expertise, particularly in not-for-profit governance and charity law. We haven’t said a total goodbye, we are happy to say, as Heather will remain as Chairperson of our Community Services Reform Council.
As predicted, our work has developed in scope and depth from project work into programs of work across four key areas to advance our industry agenda:
These programs of work will continue into 2019.
We have undertaken planning around a long-term focus on our constitutional objects and produced an Annual Plan 2018-19. This Plan provides an update across our four program areas and looks ahead to 2019.
Importantly, our work continues across our four strategic themes. We used them to guide the design of our Annual Plan and report on our achievements as we progress towards our long-term vision:
Influence: shaping the reform agenda
Excellence: being the best we can be
Outcomes: delivering on purpose
Transformation: changing the way we do business
We also developed an Outcomes Framework based on the ‘Theory of Change’ model to achieve our broad goals and contribution to the industry. We have articulated a shared understanding of how the activities and methods we use in our work lead to the outcomes and goals we are seeking to achieve. In 12-months we will use this for evaluating impact and success as we report back to industry.
Of course, all of this work would not be possible without ongoing support of our Foundation Members, a committed group of like-minded people working towards success and sustainability of the industry.
It’s been an exciting year as we advance the industry agendas through our program of works, with Commissioning for Outcomes, the final Laying Foundations report, digitising the Business Maturity Scorecard and building a stronger workforce just to name a few.
Together we have an industry-led approach that supports and advances the missions of our foundation members, and the industry as a whole, through positive action and change.
As the programs of works expands, we have experienced a significant growth within the organisation. During the year our team grew from five to 20 to sustain business capability and bring you even better industry outcomes and insights. They are an amazing bunch of people, who are focussed on the business of the business and advancing the sustainability of the Community Services Industry!
2019 is shaping up to be an even bigger year. Stay tuned for further announcements in the new year.
The CSIA office will be closed from midday on Friday 21 December and will reopen on Wednesday 2 January 2019.
On behalf of the CSIA Board and Staff, I would like to take this opportunity to wish you, your team and your family a Merry Christmas and a safe, relaxing and happy New Year.
All the very best
